The characteristic features of the surrounding houses are reflected by the new building: clear, cubical and interconnected with flatly slanted gable roofs. This regionally typical construction form is the formative design element on the listed military barracks site and represents the construction period of the 1930s. Following these basic features the new building fits into its surrounding. With its reduced and simplistic design and materiality, which pragmatically sets the main focus on the technological purpose of the building and deliberately abandons further decorative elements, the new building meets the requirements of function, economic efficiency and durability whilst critically distancing itself from the surrounding buildings built under the 3rd-Reich regime.
In essence, the structure consists of two washing halls for easy cleaning of heavy military vehicles and a long washing hall for a mobile washing system designed for cleaning long military vehicles, trucks with trailers and armoured tracked vehicles weighing up to 90 tons. The design requirements resulting from this construction task were met by specifically developed floor and wall structures as a special construction.
